To Note: This NM is entirely duoable. You honestly only need a nin and a BRD (Stacked/w MP gear, so he can heal nin whole fight).
I wouldnt suggest it tho, unless you have no choice. Alot of risks with this. But if your short men, its possible. Dont give up right off the bat and say, we dont have enough. ^^

Joyeuse > Martial Analace in terms of TP growth when considering the double attack. Martial Analace will outpace just about anything else... Actually, you seem to be confusing how Martial Anelace works (else my source is wrong but I've also read a long time ago about how Martial Knuckles are good for Dragon Kick. Also why Hagun is allegedly the best end-game GKT for sam would also make sense this way) - wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/TP_Bonus - The way Martial Weapons work is when you use a WS, they give you an additional 100tp bonus to the calculation. What I meant by adding in Martial Anelace's name was to contrast the dmg from a WS with a higher base dmg (Mensur Epee) compared to the dmg from a WS done with 200tp as opposed to 100tp (As would occur with Martial Anelace @100tp) Ie: 200tp ws VS higher base dmg ws while taking into account that DoT suffers Justtttt to see people's different views on it just for fun.

that is also the way it was described to me, Jon.
ie: 200% spirits within hits like 300%

Ive used martial scythe, that is how it works, with the exception that you max out @300% So if you have "real" tp of 200% the ws behaves like you have 300% If you have "real" tp of 250%, it still behaves like you have 300%, NOT 350. Etc. The martial weapons are nice toys, but usually not the best due to the DoT factor from their base dmg being lower than other weapons you could use.

(But not good on Gods if you're meleeing or just Wsing once with 300tp)

Sorry to necrobump, but I parsed some results from Martial Anelece and have a little more insight into it, now.
Damage on weapon skills varied very widely, so it was difficult to find a significant correlation at first, but in the end, I was doing about 30-40% more skillchain damage, with an average around 410 damage on Savage and 380 on Vorpal blade. The medians were more accurate, about 510 on Savage and 450 on Vorpal... Savage had a higher maximum damage cap, around 1100, while vorpal was consistantly over 500 where Savage would often land for about 350.
The 100% extra TP can be confirmed through spirits within, but I found that if I wasn't waiting to build up to 200% TP, the extra weapon skill damage from Martial Anelece just wasn't worth it, and there wasn't a big difference between 100% and 200% weapon skills. When I chained Light with Wheeling Thrust, it DID significantly increase the skillchain damage (indirectly) by allowing for about 500 damage on average against the mobs we tested.
It's a tough choice, between using Mensur Epee for the flat damage and weaponskill base damage, or Martial for the TP bonus. Now that Epee has fallen in price, I'll test that at some point and share my results.

From what I've read MA has higher WS dmg, but the Mensur does more DOT.

I haven't had a chance to parse Mensur Epee yet, but that is what I can predict from my initial findings playing around with MA.

filebox.vt.edu/users/adrussel/ffxi/ws.htmThis site lists the multipliers for 100/200/300 for all Ws. 100/200/300 1.0/1.75/3.5 Savage Blade 1.0/1.0/1.0 Vorpal Blade So it'd be most effective for Savage Blading, and it's useless for Vorpal Blade unless you want higher crit% on your ws. Would be very hard to compare MA with Joyeuse off-hand Vs. Mensur Epee/other regardless of DoT.

That's what I'm hoping to do, when I have a chance. I have a mensur epee now, but have not even had the opportunity to try it out. I'm going to confirm the hidden effect first, by comparing the flat damage against another sword with the same flat damage and recording the criticals, and afterwards, I'll work on parsing out some numbers for WS efficiency.
