I'm more sad that it's the only thing people seem to want to talk about lately instead of.. you know.. the future of the linkshell since it's pretty much becoming even less of a social and just a place people come into when they kinda feel guilty for not full-timing it anymore.. Not that I mind when people do that, but if that is what the shell is mostly comprised of.. I mean considering the numbers we had before.. There's about 4-5 regular people and the rest are in-and-outs. /emo Ah well...

There's about 4-5 regular people and the rest are in-and-outs. /emo Ah well... Well, you could look at it from the perspective that at least we're talking about something, as opposed to nothing. As far as 'rebuilding'...Everyone who wanted the shell to survive had ample opportunity to step up and make an effort to recruit the past six months - nobody did. EO/EE was forced out of end-game due to lack of interest in the game and the lack of recruitment. I take solace in the fact we didn't go social due to members leaving for other shells, but because most members were burned out with the game - a game that SE has supported horribly (primarily their refusal to eliminate their cash cow - RMT, the ridiculous difficulty and time requirements of CoP Jailers, their failure to do anything about the lag/botfest known as kings/HNM, shitty dynamis drop rates, etc.). I think your calls to discuss the future of the linkshell are falling on deaf ears. The same ears who sat and watched and did nothing as people quit the game and playtimes dwindled. I don't mean to discourage you; I'm just questioning your expectations at this point. If there were no recruitment efforts the last six months, then why would people be willing to step up now, when we have nothing to entice prospective members with?

Limbus, Assault, and Salvage don't need more than 18 people.

Deaf ears you say.. so I should just do like everyone else and get a new social then? I'm not trying to revive what we had, I'm trying to just get more members. That's it. No sky, no sea, no nothing except people to help once in a while and talk to mostly. What failed to be revived in 6 monthes was an hnm, so your talk of RMT really has no real bearring, except for people leaving DUE to RMT which *shrugs* is something you deal with. The competition was something too strong for people to withstand and they left. I mention CoP and farming, because we're having fun working together, helping our friends when we can. It isn't for points.

If someone puts forth a serious recruiting effort and has a lot of time to play and a strong desire for it to happen, it's as good as done.

Time to offer my unwanted opinion. ;-)
First, this is the general section, which is the equivalent of "off-topic". So anything non-FF related was what I originally envisioned this section for.
Secondly, it is sad to see how little traffic these forums get (and wtf, changing default colour schemes jon! /tsk ), so anything is good imo.
Third, yes please revive EO/EE in some way. I hate to see the dysfunctional online family dwindle away, though Im sure some would like to place some of the blame on me. Locke and Shalyn both have valid points though. In any case, I will be cheering you on from the lurkers corner, good luck!

I didn't say it wasn't allowed, I just said it's sad it's the only hot topic. I don't know if I'm going to attempt this alone or just make an altogether new social for people to go in and out of so I can easier give pearls. Some of us insist on staying together, I hope it's possible.

There's no organization atm. We're split over two websites. The linkshell of choice has no leader and only 2 pearlsacks of which one SH plays very late hours while the other is at random. On top of all that, there is zero administration activity.

I know I'm going to get chewed out for this, but there's a lot of talk about how everyone that chose to stay behind is split up and no one shows up to even talk anymore. But let me ask, has anyone stepped up to actually do anything about the problem?
I want to see you guys succeed just as much as you do, but I'm going to be as frank as possible... and I do so out of genuine concern, because it seems like this is what needs to be said right now.
People are apathetic by nature. Unless somethign directly affects them, they're not liable to make large personal investments in it, even if it's something they really care about. That's the sad truth, people. I love this family, but the truth of the matter is that what you need right now is someone to take charge. You need leadership, someone strong enough to step up and get things done.
It's not an easy job, and it's not something just anyone can do. There's a point where action is more important than discussion. So, who's going to step up and get things done?

We're a small group, 4-6 of us on most times, gets up to 10-12 at peak times, purely social. Only thing I've asked is to try to get the account info for the pearlholder so we can let it grow naturally by having everyone with sacks.global

Exactly, I don't miss anyone that's gone except a select few, so anyone not coming in anymore I don't really care to convince to come back. Really, the people left I want to continue to hang with but if we can't get more members it's just that much harder since people sometimes just need help and if there's nobody on ls... etcetc. More sacks = more pearls = more members. I vote TastesLikeGrandmas!

question, Miruuk. You think you'll be playing more? Enough that it would make sense to just stick with EE as the main social shell?
Or would it make more sense to have shal or b or mego start a new shell, so that the people who are on nightly can take all the actions needed?
EE's got the website and the recognition, and many already have pearls. But if it's just gradually turning into the same situation as EO, where the PH is gone, then it seems best to start fresh.
I've only been back a short time, so this might just be an off week for you as far as playtime, so let me know if I'm assuming too much.
BTW, if we do a new shell, the name will be "Meh" to reflect our can-do attitude. Not Grandmas, we'll leave shal's sectegenarianophilia out of our LS name please.global

My playtime has suffered the last 2 weeks or so. I've been obsessed with Zelda: Twilight Princess and having lots of fun. It is a great game although the only times I'm in FF are Mondays for Dynamis. Before Zelda I was ingame almost every night soloing imps for at least 1 hour. Made 14 merits the first half of January.
I'm rambling.
FF online will be my last mmorpg until I'm done or damn close to done with school. That doesn't mean I'm quitting. For now, I have no intention of doing so. I'll be around in a limited capacity. School starts up for me in 2 weeks. Tough to say what kind of free time I will have but I'd like to play a couple nights each week. My in-game goals aren't much. I want to keep doing Dynamis and hopefully someday pick up SMN horn. I also want to level BLM again.
Use EE if you guys want to or create a new shell. Your call. I have no intentions of breaking EE or canceling my content IDs. That may change when summer hits but who knows.

I have no intentions of breaking EE or canceling my content IDs. That may change when summer hits but who knows. I was very close to cancelling my ID's, but found that I was quite disappointed I didn't complete my AFv2. I ran with another Dynamis group a few times, but investing 3+ hours on Monday and Friday nights for another 2-3 months (maybe even more) is just totally not worth it. Maybe not having full AFv2 (0/15 on THF pants, high bid each time) is just a good reminder of how fucked up FFXI is. I've been playing FF12 in my freetime, and FFVI Advance (my favorite game ever) comes out next week so that's keeping me busy. I picked up WoW and joined the others over on Fenris, but...I'm tired of sitting in front of a keyboard, and I don't want any other commitments. I don't think I'm going to cancel FFXI any time soon, but I don't know that I will be playing any time soon... Edit: oh yeah, my main reason for this post - Shalyn, you should either start a new shell or acquire Markus's account personally, but you'd have to pay for his account once every 3 months so it's not deleted. I have no idea what's going on with it though. I strongly recommend making a new LS, then you won't have to deal with any of the BS that comes along with people changing their minds, etc. The LS has absolutely nothing to do with a name, it's defined by the people.
